WJSN  member Dayoung has opened up about her solo debut and the stories behind it.

On the 25th, Rolling Stone Korea unveiled Dayoung’s pictorial and interview.

In the photoshoot, Dayoung captivated attention with long blonde hair, bold smoky makeup, and a charismatic aura that radiated both allure and intensity. Her piercing gaze and dynamic poses highlighted her reputation as a true “pictorial master.” With her healthy, toned physique and stylish charm, the shoot sparked enthusiastic reactions from global fans.

During the interview following the shoot, she reflected on her first digital single gonna love me, right?, released on September 9.

When asked about the difference between “Dayoung of WJSN” and “Dayoung as a solo artist,” she said, “In the group, I was the cute youngest among my older members, but standing alone made me realize just how challenging it really is. I’m only able to be here thanks to the efforts of the staff who believed in me and ran alongside me. I want to make sure their hard work pays off with good results.”

Her solo debut single was produced entirely in the U.S. On this, Dayoung explained, “I’ve loved pop music since I was young. For the past three years, I’ve been studying songwriting and composition, and I always dreamed of working on music in the U.S. someday. So I never let go of either English or music studies, and this project was the opportunity I’d been preparing for.”

She added, “I’m still learning, but I want to carve out my own color and style within the music I love. My dream is to become an artist who instantly comes to mind when people hear ‘Dayoung’s style,’ with a distinct sound of my own. I hope my music will spread widely throughout the pop market.”

Dayoung also candidly shared the struggles she faced: “While preparing for this album, the thought I had the most was, ‘Is this the right choice?’ I went through countless decisions and changes, constantly questioning and reevaluating. It felt like a mix of question marks, commas, and sometimes exclamation points. I realized that being a solo artist isn’t just about standing on stage alone, it means becoming the one responsible for the entire production process.”

Looking ahead, she expressed her goals for the year: “I hope through this album, people will feel, ‘Dayoung has this side too?’ or ‘She can express such emotions and colors as well.’ I want listeners to look forward to what kind of stories Dayoung as an artist will bring in the future, and I’ll keep pushing forward to make that happen.”

More of Dayoung’s pictorials and interview can be found in the 15th issue of Rolling Stone Korea.

Meanwhile, Dayoung recently took home her first solo music show trophy, winning 1st place on SBS funE’s The Show on the 23rd with the title track body from gonna love me, right?.
