Hanteo News Code of Ethics

Preamble
Hanteo News establishes the 'Hanteo News Code of Ethics' to practice freedom and responsibility as a media organization and to realize social justice. All journalists and employees of Hanteo News pledge to comply with this code.
Article 1: Standards and Direction of Reporting
1. Freedom and Responsibility of Expression
- The purpose of reporting is to guarantee the public's right to know.
- We promote freedom of reporting, editing, and expression while bearing in mind that responsibility is the foundation, and strive to form sound public opinion, promote culture, enhance public welfare, and protect fundamental rights of citizens.
- We conduct reporting activities independent of political, economic, social, and cultural powers, and reject pressure and solicitations from such powers.
2. Pursuit of Truth
- Accurate and fair reporting based on facts and truth is our top priority.
- Information obtained through reporting is not distorted and is presented as factual.
- Information obtained through reporting must be verified for accuracy.
- In principle, sources are disclosed for the accuracy and reliability of articles. However, exceptions are made when deemed unavoidable for the protection of informants or sources.
- Balance is maintained when reporting on content where interests of both sides conflict.
3. Editing
- Content is expressed and edited so that readers do not confuse facts with opinions. Articles and advertisements are clearly distinguished.
- Care is taken to ensure that excessive advertising space does not hinder the delivery of article content.
- Articles produced by robot journalism ('Hanteo News Bot') are edited to be distinguishable from articles written by human reporters, and the article's identity must be included within the article itself.
Article 2: Professional Ethics
1. Copyright Protection
- Published works are used in reporting and posted on Hanteo News official SNS accounts as a principle. Official SNS accounts may also be used for accurate and efficient reporting.
- Hanteo News official SNS account administrators do not expose confidential information (IDs, passwords) of the accounts to unauthorized persons or third parties.
2. Personal SNS Use
- Personal SNS activities are conducted under individual responsibility, and each person is responsible for the results.
- Before personal activities, one must keep in mind professional ethics and membership as a Hanteo News journalist, and take care not to have fairness and reliability questioned.
Article 5: Ethics Committee
1. Establishment and Operation of the Ethics Committee
- Hanteo News establishes and operates an 'Ethics Committee' to deliberate and judge the practice of its own code of ethics.
- Not only internal journalists and employees but also external contributors of Hanteo News are notified and educated to comply with the Hanteo News Code of Ethics.
