Group SEVENTEEN (S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JOSHUA, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8, MINGYU, DK, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, DINO) has added another ‘Platinum’ certified song from the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 26th, SEVENTEEN’s “Super,” one of the double title tracks from their 10th mini album FML, surpassed 100 million cumulative streams on local music platforms as of May.
With this, SEVENTEEN has received their second ‘Platinum’ certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Last September, “VERY NICE” became their first ‘Platinum’-certified track. The Recording Industry Association of Japan grants monthly streaming certifications categorized as Gold (over 50 million), Platinum (over 100 million), and Diamond (over 500 million).
In addition to the two songs, SEVENTEEN has earned multiple ‘Gold’ certifications for tracks including “Fallin’ Flower (舞い落ちる花びら),” “Mansae,” “Ready to love,” “Clap,” “Darl+ing,” “HOT,” “HIT,” “Rock with you,” “Left & Right,” “Pretty U,” “Don’t Wanna Cry,” and special unit BSS (SEUNGKWAN, DK, HOSHI)’s “Fighting (Feat. Lee Young Ji).”
“Super” is a song that compares SEVENTEEN’s growth through trials and setbacks to that of Sun Wukong (the Monkey King). Upon its release in 2023, the track charted on the U.S. Billboard Global 200 for 12 consecutive weeks, and went on to surpass 200 million cumulative streams on the world’s largest music platform, Spotify, proving its long-term popularity.
The 10th mini album FML, which includes “Super,” sold nearly 4 million copies on its release day alone. In about two months, it went on to sell over 6.2 million copies, setting a record for the highest sales of a single album in K-POP history.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN also achieved remarkable results with their 5th full album HAPPY BURSTDAY. It recorded initial chodong sales of 2.52 million copies, the highest among K-POP albums released this year to date. The album also debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, tying SEVENTEEN’s personal best ranking and charted for three consecutive weeks.
