ILLIT’s new song NOT CUTE ANYMORE is dominating short-form platforms across the globe.
According to the YouTube US “Top Shorts Songs” Daily Chart (as of December 22, KST) released on December 24, ILLIT (YUNAH, MINJU, MOKA, WONHEE, IROHA) placed No.2 with the title track NOT CUTE ANYMORE from their debut single album. During the holiday season, when carols usually take the lead, the song is challenging global hits like Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You and Wham!’s Last Christmas for the top position.
NOT CUTE ANYMORE is also rising on various country/region charts beyond the US, ranking No.2 in Canada, No.3 in Australia and the UK, No.4 in Germany, No.7 in France, No.10 in Mexico, and No.11 in Japan. After entering the Global “Top Shorts Songs” Daily Chart at No.40 on December 18, the song quickly climbed to No.17 (Dec 19), No.13 (Dec 20), and then No.11 (Dec 22), based on data from YouTube users worldwide.
It has already dominated Korea’s short-form trend for quite some time. NOT CUTE ANYMORE first reached No.1 on the YouTube Korea “Top Shorts Songs” Daily Chart on December 6 and remained at the top for more than two weeks, except for just four days. The Holiday Party ver. remix released on December 19 also landed high on the charts, further fueling the original track’s success. On TikTok, videos using the original and sped-up versions of the track have surpassed a combined 300,000 uploads.
The so-called “Hood-Grab Shot Challenge”, which uses NOT CUTE ANYMORE as background music, is going viral among Gen Z and Gen Alpha (teens and early 20s) around the world. The challenge creates a visual illusion, making participants appear like they’re hanging from a keychain, and behind-the-scenes content of the trend is also spreading rapidly, pointing to continued popularity of the track.
This short-form craze is translating into strong performances on major global music charts. NOT CUTE ANYMORE has entered the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts for three consecutive weeks (as of Dec 27). It also reached No.9 on the World Digital Song Sales chart. On Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs Global chart, the song has maintained its position for three straight weeks, signaling a long run.
Meanwhile, ILLIT is wrapping up the year with performances in both Korea and Japan. They are set to appear at the 2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon on December 25, NTV’s Annual Music Awards on December 29, and The 67th Japan Record Awards on TBS on December 30. On December 31, they will greet global fans again at 2025 MBC Gayo Daejejeon and NHK’s The 76th Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
