TWS, known as the “5th Generation Performance Powerhouse,” revealed their relentless passion and struggles behind their journey toward growth.
On October 25, TWS (SHIN YU, DOHOON, YOUNGJAE, HANJIN, JIHOON, and KYUNGMIN) released a 30-minute video titled “Locker No.42 | EP.1 Break the Limits | TWS” on their official YouTube channel, documenting the making of their 4th mini album ‘play hard.’
The first episode captures the members’ intense rehearsals for their pre-release track ‘Head Shoulders Knees Toes.’ The hip-hop track features powerful choreography that highlights a bolder, edgier side of TWS never seen before.
Their attention to detail stood out as they fine-tuned every movement, from eye direction to arm angles, posture height, and control of strength, leaving no element unchecked. During group practice, under JIHOON’s lead, the members actively exchanged ideas to create a performance that embodied TWS’s unique color.
The members also discussed how to fully convey their fierce energy on stage. During an especially intense part of the song, JIHOON said, “This is our finishing move, we have to smash it with raw energy. Everyone watching should feel our determination through our eyes. You have to be half crazy to pull it off.” DOHOON added, “Let’s perform like we’re the best.”
Though already recognized as the top performers of their generation, TWS continues to push themselves further with every album. KYUNGMIN reflected, “I thought I changed a lot during ‘Double Take,’ but now that I look back, I realize I was still a kid then. I’m worried I might feel the same way about myself now later on.” YOUNGJAE replied, “If you’re ever completely satisfied with yourself, that’s when it stops being cool or fun.” JIHOON added, “That’s why change is necessary, and we have to do it well.”
Wrapping up their practice, JIHOON shared, “I think we’ve reached the point where people say, ‘TWS is good,’ but my goal with this song is for people to say, ‘TWS has changed.’”
The video ends with a short preview of the members recording in the studio, raising anticipation for the next episode.
Meanwhile, the mini album ‘play hard’ embodies the message of dedicating one’s entire youth and passion to doing something with full force — even if it means being a little crazy. Media outlets including The Hollywood Reporter, Forbes, and tmrw Magazine praised the album for capturing powerful energy and artistic growth.
TWS is currently promoting the title track ‘OVERDRIVE’, continuing their winning streak on music shows.
