[Hanteo News = Reporter KANG SUYOUNG] Keyveatz, consisting of Son Juone, Newy, Um Jione, Kim Yuna, and Kang Yeseul, officially debuted as AOMG’s first girl crew, heralding a new flow.

 

Keyveatz held a showcase at YES24 Wonderloch Hall on the 30th to commemorate the release of its 1st mini album 'OXY_GEN' and shared stories about the new album.

 

Keyveatz is the first girl crew introduced by AOMG since its founding and the next-generation runner in AOMG’s 2.0 rebranding project, 'Make It New.' The team name contains both the group’s direction to become the “key” that creates a new flow and its ambition to make a bold move, or “kibitz.” Ahead of its official debut, the group released the pre-release double single 'Key Beats' in April and proved its solid live performance capabilities by appearing at major domestic and overseas festivals and 18 university festivals, including 'KCON JAPAN 2026' and '2026 Seoul Park Music Festival.' Its debut album 'OXY_GEN' symbolizes Keyveatz as a group that constantly moves, collides, and creates its own flow. It contains a total of five tracks, including the title track 'OXY,' 'SUCK IT UP,' for which all members participated in writing lyrics, composing, and arranging, 'SUB_ZERO,' featuring punchnello, and the pre-release tracks 'Key Beats' and 'Catch My Breath.'

 

Keyveatz first explained the meaning behind its team name themselves. Son Juone said, “It contains our desire to become the key that creates a new flow, and the meaning of reading the scene and making a move.” Kang Yeseul added, “The move we make could be many things. First, it could be musicality, second, artistry, and third, visuals.” Regarding the expression “girl crew,” Kim Yuna said, “I think a crew is not something created by a concept, but something that begins with attitude,” adding, “Making the attitudes of subculture and underground culture our DNA and creating unpredictable individuality and style is the identity of the girl crew we define, as well as Keyveatz’s differentiated strength.”

 

They also talked about the title track 'OXY.' Kang Yeseul introduced the album by saying, “The name combines OXY, meaning oxygen, and GEN from generation,” adding, “It is an album that symbolizes Keyveatz as a new generation that constantly moves, collides, and creates its own flow.” Son Juone said, “We are aiming to become an all-rounder group that covers every position, including vocals, dance, and rap,” adding, “This title track really highlights the performance aspect.” Kim Yuna introduced it by saying, “‘OXY’ is a song that continuously heightens the mood with a fast-paced melody and rough, driving rhythm,” adding, “It is the song that can best show Keyveatz’s intense energy.” Um Jione said, “In one word, it is a song that expresses Keyveatz’s fierce determination through performance,” adding, “We would be grateful if you watch us closely with your eyes wide open.”

 

Plenty of behind-the-scenes stories about support from seniors and member participation were also revealed. Son Juone said, “KIAN84 sunbaenim helped with the planning and structure of our showcase,” adding, “Even before our debut, MIJOO sunbaenim gave us a lot of feedback.” Newy said, “For the title track 'OXY,' 200, our senior from the same agency, participated.” Kim Yuna said, “‘Catch My Breath’ was produced by Jay Park sunbaenim, and he brought out 200% of our talents in a really free atmosphere,” adding, “For the pre-release track 'Key Beats,' our youngest member Jione participated in writing the lyrics, and for the sub-title track 'SUCK IT UP,' she participated in writing lyrics, composing, and arranging.” Regarding advice from their seniors, Um Jione said, “What they commonly told us was that rather than trying too hard to do well, it is better to just enjoy it and be ourselves,” adding, “Going forward, our goal is to gradually increase the members’ participation and someday create an album in which all members take part in producing.”

 

The members also emphasized their strong chemistry. Newy said, “Each member of Keyveatz has a distinct color, and each of us feels like a puzzle piece that absolutely cannot be replaced by anyone else,” adding, “We are a team where not a single one of the five members can be missing.” Kim Yuna, who joined last, said, “At first, I worried a lot, but the other three members welcomed me so warmly, and because they are such talented friends, I worked hard to match their rhythm as if we had been together from the beginning.” Regarding debuting after being eliminated from a survival program, Newy said, “After the show ended, when the CEOs of H1GHR MUSIC and AOMG talked to me about a girl crew, I thought, ‘I really want to do this. This feels like the place I belong,’ and came from Japan to Korea.”

 

They also shared the team’s goals. Kang Yeseul said, “Our biggest goal is that we want to become iconic,” adding, “I hope our own genre becomes clear enough that we can become someone’s motto, and as a short-term goal, I want to win No. 1 on a music show at least once.” Um Jione said, “I hope our color becomes clear enough that one day, people will start using the phrase ‘Keyveatz-like.’”

 

Keyveatz’s 1st mini album 'OXY_GEN' will be released through various online music sites at 6 PM on this day. Attention is focused on what kind of new flow Keyveatz, which takes subculture and underground culture as its DNA, will create in the K-POP and hip-hop scenes.
