[Hanteo News = Reporter KANG SUYOUNG] EVAN revealed why he opened up about having battled childhood cancer when he was young.

EVAN held a showcase for the release of his 1st mini album ‘DEATH OF ME’ at Kyung Hee University’s Grand Peace Palace on the 7th. On this day, EVAN said, “I would be grateful if you could understand it as a moment I had to reveal in order to show my inner self exactly as it is.”

EVAN, who debuted as a member of ENHYPEN in 2020, left the team in April this year and made a fresh start as a solo artist by releasing the digital single ‘Ride or Die’ in June. Ahead of the release of his new album, he has been receiving heated anticipation from global fans, including ranking No. 1 for nine consecutive days on Spotify’s pre-save Top 10 chart.

His 1st mini album ‘DEATH OF ME’ is an album that captures the process of facing his most honest self. It contains a total of eight songs, including the title track ‘DEATH OF ME,’ as well as ‘Not Enough,’ ‘Noise,’ ‘Ride or Die,’ ‘Twilight,’ ‘Immature,’ ‘Overflow,’ and ‘Going Home.’ EVAN led the overall lyric writing, composition, and production process, proving his abilities as a self-producing artist.

While explaining the album and title track, the keyword that was repeated especially often was hope. EVAN shared, “I thought there was a point where DEATH OF ME, which is also the title of this album, connects with my past,” adding, “Because this is an album that contains my inner self, I wanted to naturally share all of my stories.”

He continued, “In the process of explaining this album, I think I naturally came to confess a moment that had a major impact on my thoughts and values,” adding, “This period of my life and the message I want to deliver are fully contained in the album, and because I have also gone through that experience, I hope people will focus on how important the message of this album is.”

Asked about his goals for his activities, EVAN answered, “I want to stand on bigger and more stages and properly deliver my ultimate message.” He continued, “Artist EVAN’s motto is to give people hope through music,” adding, “I think my most important calling is to give people the strength to overcome difficult situations through my music when they face them.”

EVAN’s 1st mini album ‘DEATH OF ME’ will be released at 6 PM on this day. Attention is focused on what kind of presence EVAN, who has taken a new first step as a solo artist, will establish with this album.
