[Hanteo News = Reporter KANG SUYOUNG] EVAN announced his start as a solo artist with his 1st mini album ‘DEATH OF ME.’

 

EVAN held a showcase for the release of his 1st mini album ‘DEATH OF ME’ at Kyung Hee University’s Grand Peace Palace on the 7th. On this day, EVAN introduced the album as “a mirror-like album that contains stories from my sincere inner self.”

 

If he were to describe this album in one word, it would be mirror. EVAN said, “It gave me a strong feeling of facing myself,” adding, “There is fear about the future, but at the same time, there are honest and firm stories about wanting to move forward and achieve more things. This is an album that reflects my thoughts and inner self exactly as they are.”

 

EVAN recalled, “A great deal of my ideas were reflected throughout the album,” adding, “The most important thing was to contain stories that came from my sincere inner self.” Regarding the title track of the same name, he said, “It contains my strong will as I stand at a new starting line,” adding, “I wanted to overcome the musical limits I had reached while preparing my digital single in June.”

 

The lyrics of the title track also went through a complete revision. EVAN said, “An initial draft came out, but I completely overturned it and rewrote the lyrics,” adding, “Even getting to the initial draft involved staying up all night, revising and revising again.”

 

Asked about his musical direction as solo artist EVAN, he said, “My goal is to present music that fully contains who I am,” adding, “There have been many moments in life when I realized how important the two words ‘hope’ are to people, so in that sense, I want to deliver my message. And in order for that to happen, I believe I have to be fully present in my music.”

 

EVAN, who debuted as a member of ENHYPEN in 2020, left the team in April this year and made a fresh start as a solo artist by releasing the digital single ‘Ride or Die’ in June. Ahead of the release of his new album, he has been receiving heated anticipation from global fans, including ranking No. 1 for nine consecutive days on Spotify’s pre-save Top 10 chart.

 

His 1st mini album ‘DEATH OF ME’ is an album that captures the process of facing his most honest self. It contains a total of eight songs, including the title track ‘DEATH OF ME,’ as well as ‘Not Enough,’ ‘Noise,’ ‘Ride or Die,’ ‘Twilight,’ ‘Immature,’ ‘Overflow,’ and ‘Going Home.’ EVAN led the overall lyric writing, composition, and production process, proving his abilities as a self-producing artist.
