TWS previewed a more evolved version of their signature “straightforward freshness” with their new release.
TWS held a showcase on the 27th at YES24 Live Hall to celebrate the release of their fifth mini album NO TRAGEDY. On this day, Youngjae said, “This album is a ‘straightforward freshness’ concept that honestly expresses the various emotions you feel while going through youth.”
He added, “Through this album, we want to show a proactive, independent, and self-driven side of TWS that strives to win love. The weather is nice these days, so we hope this album brings a bright, refreshing, and energetic spring to many people.”
Speaking about the title track, Jihoon said, “It’s the first time we’ve talked about love this seriously, so we sat together in the practice room and thought, ‘What is love?’” He continued, “We found the answer in the way we look at SAI (fandom name) on stage, and in the way they look back at us.” Hanjin added, “When I first heard it, I thought, ‘This is so TWS.’ The melody is catchy, and the chorus is easy to sing along to.”
On the difference from their previous work, Jihoon said, “It contains the courage to move forward. If earlier TWS expressed emotions they couldn’t control, this time you can see a more mature TWS that accepts and expresses those emotions.” Youngjae added, “In previous promotions, we showed bright and fresh youthful energy, but this time it’s about honestly expressing the various emotions you feel as you go through youth.”
Regarding the “youth Romeo” concept, Kyungmin said, “Romeo and Juliet ends in tragedy, but our title track has a happy ending. While the ending is different, the way they approach love is similar.” Jihoon added, “Both characters are completely sincere when it comes to love and express their feelings 100%, which makes them similar to us.”
On competing in a crowded comeback lineup, Shinyu said, “It’s an honor to promote alongside amazing senior and junior artists, and we’ll work hard to show TWS’s unique color.” Kyungmin added, “Our strength is our age-appropriate humor. I think our honesty and youthful charm are TWS’s biggest weapons.”
TWS, who debuted in January 2024, made a strong impression with their debut track “plot twist,” showing a presence beyond that of typical rookies. They also won Artist of the Year (Bonsang) at the 32nd Hanteo Music Awards 2024 in their debut year, quickly establishing themselves as a key K-pop act. Their fourth mini album play hard (released last October) sparked the viral “Angtal Challenge” with its title track “OVERDRIVE,” proving both popularity and buzz.
Their fifth mini album NO TRAGEDY captures the straightforward romance of six boys who actively shape their own destiny in love. The title track “You, You” blends house sounds with R&B sensibilities, delivering a bold confession toward a destined partner. Dohoon participated in writing the lyrics, adding sincerity.
TWS’s fifth mini album NO TRAGEDY will be released today (27th) at 6 PM on major music platforms. After setting a career high of 639,787 first-week sales with their previous album, attention is now focused on what new records they will achieve this time.
