Group FLARE U pledged upon their debut, “Even if we are not perfect, we will become a sincere team.”

FLARE U held a showcase on the 13th at Blue Square Woori WON Banking Hall to commemorate the release of their new song “WAY 2 U” and shared stories about their new album.

FLARE U is a duo group made up of CHUEI LI YU and KANG WOO JIN, who were recognized for their skills and potential through Mnet’s “Boys 2 Planet,” which aired last year. The two received much love from fans throughout the program for their extraordinary teamwork, and afterward, they continued to support each other by visiting each other’s fan meeting venues before finally coming together as one team.

Ahead of their debut, they also took the stage at “KCON JAPAN 2026” from the 8th to the 10th and met global fans for the first time. CHUEI LI YU recalled, “As a rookie group, I was happy and honored to be able to stand on such a big stage before our debut, and every moment was precious,” adding, “I performed on stage with the friends I appeared on the broadcast with and also met them backstage, so it was a very special memory.” KANG WOO JIN said, “Even when you prepare hard, it seems like there are always regrets that follow the stage,” adding, “Next time, I will prepare even harder so that I can reduce those regrets.”

Their debut album “YOUTH ERROR” is an album that depicts the process of two different youths meeting and becoming one light. KANG WOO JIN introduced it by saying, “It is an album that contains the story of two youths who make mistakes, fall down, and each carry different errors,” adding, “It means that CHUEI LI YU and KANG WOO JIN meet as one team, complement each other, and shine as one light.”

Regarding the title track “WAY 2 U,” CHUEI LI YU explained, “It captures the image of realizing feelings of affection beyond friendship through emotions that began suddenly, like a phone vibration, and running toward the other person without hesitation,” adding, “It is refreshing and cute, so I think fans will like it, and I liked that the lyrics felt like they were directed toward the fans.” KANG WOO JIN explained, “The choreography is really cute, and each part has its own story, so you will be able to enjoy it in a fun way,” adding, “If ‘WAY 2 U’ contains the story up until the moment of confession, ‘Hyper’ has choreography that expresses the story of two people who became connected through a red thread.”

The fact that they are a two-member group also became a topic of discussion. KANG WOO JIN said, “It is easy and quick to coordinate our opinions,” adding, “Compared to other groups, our hair and makeup time is shorter, and we also have many parts. Those are also advantages,” drawing laughter. CHUEI LI YU added, “These days, there are not many duo groups, so I actually think that is our strength,” and said, “There is a charm in two different characters coming together, complementing each other, and completing one another.” Regarding the pressure of debuting as a two-member group, CHUEI LI YU said, “Debuting as a two-member group is not common, and we thought a lot about whether we could do well, but since we are doing this to repay our fans, we tried to overcome it.” KANG WOO JIN said, “I think it would be a lie to say that there was no pressure,” adding, “We went through thick and thin together on BOYS 2 PLANET, and we had our own narrative, so we were able to overcome it.” He also added, “The more we actually do it, the more I feel that we can do it, and I am finding it fun.”

After the program ended, they also discovered new sides of each other while living together. CHUEI LI YU said, “During BOYS 2 PLANET, WOO JIN felt very much like a younger brother, cute and clingy, but after becoming a team, I found that he is more dependable than I expected and takes good care of me.” KANG WOO JIN shared, “Before BOYS 2 PLANET, I thought he looked like a high school student and was cute, but while living together, I came to think a lot that he is much more professional and mature than I expected.”

The warm support from senior artists also remained an unforgettable moment. CHUEI LI YU recalled, “After N.Flying’s fan meeting, I went to a company dinner they were having and greeted them, and SEUNG HYUB gave me such good advice. He also gave me his contact and told me to reach out whenever I need, so it was a warm moment.” KANG WOO JIN added, “We appeared on a radio show with P1Harmony, and I was grateful because the senior artists led us well and took good care of us.” Both of them named AKMU as their role model. KANG WOO JIN said, “I want to resemble the way they enjoy performing on stage and write songs with their own stories,” while CHUEI LI YU shared, “Since we can receive comfort through music, we also want to become musicians like that.”

They also talked about what kind of team they want fans to remember them as. CHUEI LI YU said, “I want to have the name vitamin vending machine,” adding, “Whenever fans want or need it, I hope they can receive energy from us.” As artists he would like to film a challenge with, he named TWICE and FNC Entertainment’s executive producer HAN SUNG HO. CHUEI LI YU said, “I have been a longtime fan of TWICE, so I want to film one with them at least once, and I also want to film a challenge with Executive Producer HAN SUNG HO.”

After the Q&A ended, KANG WOO JIN said in his final greeting, “There is one promise I would like to make to the reporters here,” and pledged in a trembling voice, “Going forward, even if we are not perfect, we will become a sincere FLARE U.”

FLARE U’s first mini album “YOUTH ERROR” will be released through various online music sites at 6 p.m. on this day. Expectations are high for what kind of presence FLARE U, the “youth duo” newly appearing in the K-pop scene, will imprint with their first album.
