[Hanteo News = Reporter KANG SUYOUNG] ONEWE’s GIUK shared his ambition to become a festival headliner someday.

 

ONEWE met with Hanteo News at a cafe in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on the 18th and talked about its 3rd full-length album '面 : Unknown Atlas.' On this day, GIUK said, “Not long ago, when we performed right before YB sunbaenim, I felt incredibly overwhelmed,” adding, “We also greeted YB sunbaenim, and I thought that if we work even harder, maybe someday we can become festival headliners. I will keep working hard while waiting for that day.”

 

They also talked about the stages they hope to stand on in the future. YONGHOON said, “Yesterday was my birthday, and we performed at Olympic Hall together with Dragon Pony,” adding, “I thought it would be fun if we could hold a solo concert at Olympic Hall someday.” He continued, “The final goal I mention is Gocheok Dome, but honestly, I want to go to venues with good sound, so I want to perform at each one step by step.” DONGMYEONG said, “We have been doing things one by one in the order we kept talking about, so I think if we keep making music and continue for a long time, we may gradually grow and someday perform at the biggest concert venue in Korea.” When HARIN scolded him, saying, “Why are you talking so timidly?” YONGHOON said, “In terms of sound, I think KSPO DOME is probably the best, so I want to perform there.”

 

They also shared stories about the setlist for their solo concert scheduled to be held next month. DONGMYEONG said, “It is a matter of choice and focus. If we perform all 17 songs from the new album, there could be a situation where we cannot perform ONEWE songs that the public or fans already love, so even now, we are still revising the setlist and holding meetings,” adding, “I want to say that something could be taken out or added, and we will not know until the end.” GIUK said, “We are preparing by mixing things well about half and half, so I do not think fans or the public need to worry.” DONGMYEONG added, “GIUK sent a really long file to our group chat, looking up references for each song and saying what kind of concert he wanted to do. We had a lot of meetings based on that, and since fairy tales are the concept this time, we are preparing so that people can really feel that fairy-tale atmosphere.”

 

As for the song whose stage they are most looking forward to at the concert, YONGHOON chose ‘It’s You’ and revealed a special behind-the-scenes story. YONGHOON said, “Fans participated in this album,” adding, “We wrote one entire part as WEVE’s part, and we received fans’ voice recordings as WAV files. About 500 people participated.” He continued, “We received all 500 people’s voices as files, mixed them, tuned them a little, and used every single person without leaving anyone out,” adding, “I want to hear it live at the concert venue, and since they recorded it themselves, I trust that they will practice that part before coming.” DONGMYEONG said, “When we were recording GIUK’s song ‘We Are Missing,’ I thought, ‘This is so good, it is such a good song,’ but when we actually practiced it live and tried it on stage, I thought, ‘This is really intense and difficult,’” adding, “There are a few songs like that, so I think we will need to practice a lot for the concert.”

 

Toward the end of the interview, DONGMYEONG said, “We made these 17 songs with so much care,” adding, “Because WEVE were there, and because the five of us put our heads together to make them for WEVE to hear, I hope you enjoy them to the fullest, take them in, and feel happy.”

 

ONEWE’s 3rd full-length album '面 : Unknown Atlas' will be released today at 6 PM through various music sites.
